Impact of Genshin How to get Xiao?

Xiao is a new five-star playable character introduced in the February 1.3 2021 update with the Invitation to Mundane Life event.

How to unlock?

Technically, you don’t need to unlock Xiao to use him as a playable character in the game. Not a free playable character like Amber, Kaeya or Lisa. You don’t have to go to a certain part of the main story to get Xiao for your team.

However, he is a special five-star character only available on the special event banner.

The most recent event Xiao was introduced to was his playable debut in the February 2021 Invitation to Mundane Life event. However, the event ends on February 17, 2021, so if you don’t get him by then you’ll have to wait for the developers to re-release his character banner.

Steps

During the Invitation to Mundane Life Wish Event, you can obtain Xiao through the Genshin Impacts gacha-style Wish system. Check out the steps below if you are not familiar with it:

  1. Launch the game.
  2. Go to the main menu.
  3. Select the Wish icon (first icon in the fourth row).
  4. Go to the Character Event Banners tab. |
  5. Select Wish x 1 or Wish x 10, located in the lower right corner of the screen.
  6. Confirm your selection and cross your fingers.

You need a wish to pull from the Genshin Impacts gacha system. There are two types of wishes available in the game: Familiar Fate and Intertwined Fate. You can get Fates as a reward for increasing your Adventure Rank, completing quests, or trading them with Primogems.

Fates are available for purchase in Paimons Bargains, the in-game shop located on your main menu. If you decide to go this route, you’ll need Alternate Fates to get from your character’s Wish banner.

The Character Wish Banner may change with each update, so if you’re determined to get Xiao, keep checking for updates for a chance to win him.

Remember that using the Wish system does not guarantee that you will get the character or weapon you want with every pull. The developers for Genshin Impact use an algorithm that mimics the popular gacha vending machines in Japan.

You never know what prizes you’ll get for hard-earned Wishes or Fates, but you do have a 50% chance of winning five-star characters that are featured on the banner during an event. When you consider the less than 1% chance you have of winning five-star characters using the standard Characters banner, your odds look good. Multiple Wish pulls like 10 Wish options can also increase your chances of winning the character you want.

Before getting frustrated about using the Wish system, you should know that the game has a mercy system. You may not get your character or weapon on your first or 55th pull. However, if you try the five-star banner item 89 times, you’re guaranteed that item on your next or 90th pull. However, keep in mind that prominent five-star characters have a 50% chance of appearing in your Wish pull command.

Also, if you tried participating in the previous five-star character event and did not receive the character, your progress from that event will carry over to the next five-star event banner.

For more details on banner prizes and chances to win them, see Details on the Wish banner page. It’s near the bottom of your screen.

Who is Xiao?

Xiao is a Yaksha Adeptus Anemo introduced in the 1.3 update to the wish event, Invitation to Mundane Life. This weapon-wielding playable character is the last surviving member of an elite band of Yakshas or illuminated beasts whose mission is to fend off evil spirits in Liyue. Although it was Morax who sent his group of Yakshas to protect Liyue, Xiao didn’t seem to care much about interacting with the human inhabitants of the town.
