Genshin Impact is available on plenty of modern gaming consoles, except the Nintendo Switch, which is arguably the best platform for the game.
The hit action RPG Genshin Impact has been thriving since its initial release in September of 2020, with players exploring the world of Teyvat through different gaming consoles, from Android all the way to PlayStation 5. Even though the game is now readily available on next-gen consoles, it still isn’t playable on the Nintendo Switch.
In January of 2020, miHoYo released a video to its YouTube channel teasing the release of Genshin Impact for the Nintendo Switch. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited the free-to-play game’s arrival to the portable console. Two years have passed, and there’s still no word on the matter, which is a shame, as the platform could very well provide the most optimal Genshin Impact experience.
The Nintendo Switch Presents the Best of Both Worlds
There are plenty of things to do in Genshin Impact, from playing through its many missions to stockpiling character ascension materials. One crucial aspect of the game — especially for those looking to pull from Wish banners — is the daily rewards system.
Aside from purchasing Genesis Crystals for conversion, the best way to earn Primogems is to log in every day and complete daily commissions. Doing so grants players free items, like Primogems, Mora, and other character leveling materials. Given this, many gamers set aside some time during their day to play Genshin Impact and accomplish their dailies. It’s precisely this habit that makes the Switch the perfect platform for the game.
The Switch is an innovative console that allows players to shift between TV gaming and handheld gaming seamlessly. Nintendo describes it as a home console that gamers can bring with them whenever they’re on the go. This feature gives Genshin Impact fans the freedom to choose how they want to game.
If players are logging in only to do their dailies, they can simply boot the device in its handheld mode. For crucial arcs of the game’s storyline, they can shift to TV gaming mode to experience the game’s cutscenes on a bigger screen. The same can’t be said for any other gaming console, which is what makes the Switch so unique.
This is why Genshin Impact should be released to the Nintendo Switch. The console offers the best gaming experience for both routine questing and cinematic gameplay, giving players the flexibility to choose how they want to experience the world of Teyvat.
Should Genshin Impact Fans Expect a Switch Port Anytime Soon?
Despite the Nintendo Switch’s ideal setup for Genshin Impact, there is still no word from miHoYo regarding the Switch version. This is concerning, as many players are still awaiting the game’s release on the portable home console. Some suspect that the delays could be due to issues with integrating Genshin Impact into the Switch’s hardware. Others simply believe that the port may not be miHoYo’s first priority, given that it’s still working on the game’s ongoing story.
Regardless of miHoYo’s reasons, there’s no doubt that it’s missing out with the lack of a Switch version for its breakout action RPG. Aside from providing players with an optimal gaming experience, it’s also worth noting that the Switch was recently the best-selling console on the market. As such, there are likely plenty of Nintendo Switch players missing out on Genshin Impact.
Though miHoYo has yet to comment on when Genshin Impact will become available for the Nintendo Switch, it’s clear that it has plenty to gain from releasing the game on the hybrid platform. Genshin Impact fans can only hope that the company will release a statement on the Switch port soon.
Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
