In the open world of Genshin Impact, there are many characters to take into consideration. From offensive to defensive, players should know how to play in every position to get the most out of the experience. With so many activities, Genshin will test the skills of players in every area. This is especially true when it comes to healers, the last line of hope when everything else has failed. You’ll have a huge roster of characters to choose from with new ones being added frequently from updates. Though Healers are mainly expected to serve a Support role, their combination of abilities can make them more adaptable to various situations from dishing out extra damage to using protection in order to tank hits. They can make for the best final resort when it comes down to the wire, turning the situation from hopeless to winnable.

Updated On February 23, 2022, By William Quick: Genshin Impact has a lot of characters to place in your party to come up with your own strategy. The game’s frequent updates have added even more members to choose from which greatly expands your options. However, no matter what combination you go with, you’ll always need a healer, and here are the best dedicated healers, and support characters with healing abilities.

9 Kokomi

Sangonomiya Kokomi Graces The Battlefield
  • Weapon: Catalyst
  • Element: Hydro
  • Other Roles: Support

Of all the characters you’ll encounter, Sangonomiya Kokomi is one of the most important. She serves the role of Divine Priestess and is responsible for the affairs of everyone on Watatsumi Island, aiming to keep them happy and fulfilled.

Kokomi’s abilities are interesting in that they aid other party members while also contributing to the battle. She controls the Hydro element which she can use to deliver a combo of attacks to one enemy or multiple in the surrounding area. Her healing comes in the form of a summoned being that heals party members and can also deal damage to enemies.

Her passive buffs are tailored to improve the effectiveness of her summoned healing unit as well as her own personal regeneration stats. In addition to that, they can boost the power of her Hydro attacks to make her more effective in combat.

Healing Abilities

  • Elemental Skill, Kurage’s Oath: Kokomi summons a water-based Bake-Kurage that damages opponents and heals allies an amount based on Kokomi’s max HP.
  • Elemental Burst, Nereid’s Ascension: Buffs Kokomi’s Normal and Charged attacks so that restore HP to nearby party members when they hit enemies.
  • Passive Talent, Flawless Strategy: Kokomi’s Healing is boosted by 25 percent but her CRIT Rate drops by 100 percent.

8 Sayu

Sayu The Sleepy Ninja
  • Weapon: Claymore
  • Element: Anemo
  • Other Roles: Sub-DPS

Genshin Impact is full of colorful and unusual characters to recruit to your party with Sayu being simply one of many. A member of the Mujina Ninja clan, she is noticeable for her child-like appearance and a large artificial tail that is acting as a placeholder until she can grow her own.

Being a ninja, Sayu has access to a lot of dynamic abilities. In addition to her attacks, her Elemental Burst move has incredible healing and support potential as it dishes out Anemo damage to nearby enemies while healing her allies at the same time with the restored amount being based on Sayu’s ATK score.

Sayu’s healing abilities also come through by reactions since whenever she triggers a Swirl, all of your party members will regain up to 300 health. This is made more effective by Sayu’s summoned unit and the bonuses from her AoE attacks.

Healing Abilities

  • Passive (1st Ascension), Someone More Capable: Sayu’s Swirl reaction heals nearby allies for 300 HP with additional healing based on every point of her Elemental Mastery.
  • Passive (4th Ascension), No Work Today!: When a character is healed, nearby characters are also healed by 20 percent of that amount.

7 Xingqiu

Xingqiu promo Image
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Element: Hydro
  • Other roles: Sub-DPS

He’s not exactly a healer but Xingqiu is reliable enough in a pinch; he can save your DPS carry with a sliver of HP. His two abilities both heal the on-field character for a small amount, which is good enough if you’re desperate for some recovery and your characters are way too bloated from the NREs you’re feeding them.

The good thing about Xingqiu’s healing that situationally makes him preferable compared to the other healers is that he doesn’t overdo it. For most characters, that’s just mediocre healing but for someone like Hu Tao, he’s the perfect field nurse. If you do manage to snag a C6 Xingqiu, then you can likely forego a dedicated healer as he can heal even better at that state.

Healing Abilities

  • Elemental Skill, Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen – Regenerates HP after its duration, assuming you don’t use up all the swords.
  • Elemental Burst, Guhua Sword: Raincutter – Regenerates HP after its duration.
  • Passive Talent, Hydropathic – Makes it so that Xingqiu’s Rain Swords (from Skill/Burst) will heal based on 6 percent of his HP.

6 Bennett

Bennett Close-up
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Element: Pyro
  • Other roles: Sub-DPS, Support

If you do have Bennett, you can forget about all the other healers for one team because he’ll carry everyone. Bennett has one of the fastest healing rates in the game, and it’s also persistent, not an instant HP dump. That lets other characters tank through attacks as long as they’re in Bennett’s healing circle.

For melee characters who are also main DPS, Bennett’s Elemental Burst is an enabler. It also doesn’t just heal – Bennett’s healing can buff the ATK tremendously at the same time so that none of his abilities go to waste. The cooldown is also only three seconds longer than the Burst’s duration, so it’s practically on every combat if you have the energy.

Healing Ability

  • Elemental Burst, Fantastic Voyage – Heals any character standing in the circle based on Bennett’s HP if their HP is less than 70 percent.

5 Jean

Jean Trailer Upgrade
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Element: Anemo
  • Other roles: Main DPS, Support

While Jean is a great healer in her own right, what makes her so devastating is her high attack power that goes along with it. Scaling them both together delivers a lethal combination that makes every member of the team better off for it.

This becomes obvious when Jean uses her Dandelion Breeze ability, sacrificing her own attack power to regenerate the entire team and deal amino damage at the same time. This can also be focused on one player with Dandelion Field and deals damage to all who approach the teammate.

Jean’s most passive effect is her Wind Companion talent, which makes use of her high attack to heal team members with 15 percent of the damage landed on the enemy. As long as she has some backup, Jean is great in any position and really creates a rising tide for all ships on her side.

Healing Ability

  • Elemental Burst, Dandelion Breeze – Jean creates a healing field that regenerates HP based on her ATK.
  • Passive Talent, Wind Companion – Hits by Normal Attacks have a chance to regenerate HP equal to some of Jean’s ATK.

4 Qiqi

Healer in Genshin Impact Move
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Element: Cryo
  • Other roles: Main DPS

Playing a somewhat quieter role than Jean, Qiqi is like a time bomb waiting to explode. She can heal – but only with large bursts of attack, ones that have a long cooldown effect and will leave the character in a vulnerable position.

Qiqi has to be geared up in purely offensive gear to be the most effective, even having a revive at the height of her abilities. She’s a more extreme choice that can come in highly effective if timed right, putting more pressure on the player than the character.

Qiqi’s lean towards Cryo damage can also create a slow chipping effect for the other side, clinging to a character will both passively heal in intervals and give off damage to enemies. Qiqi can be extremely effective, only needing a little more planning when compared to other characters.

Healing Abilities

  • Elemental Skill, Adeptus Art: Herald of Frost – Creates a Cryo spirit around Qiqi/swapped character that hits enemies with Cryo attacks and regenerates HP.
  • Elemental Burst, Adeptus Art: Preserver of Fortune – Marks enemies with a Fortune-Preserving Talisman that lets their attackers leech back some of the damage as HP.
  • Passive Talent, A Glimpse into Arcanum – When Qiqi hits enemies with her Normal and Charged Attacks, she has a chance to apply a Fortune-Preserving Talisman.

3 Barbara

barbara trailer healer
  • Weapon: Catalyst
  • Element: Hydro
  • Other roles: Support

Unlike the other healers, Barbara’s healing powers are scaled with her own health points. The more health she has, the better she is at giving it back to her teammates. She’s the character that can be set up strictly as a healer to be the most effective, without having to hard focus the attack stat.

Instead of using single attacks to give back health to her allies, Barbara requires consistency more than anything. Regular attacks with Barbara’s Let The Show Begin ability will give back health depending on how high her own is. She’s also capable of dishing out a revive when her constellations hit the max, a rare ability that can change the tide of battle.

At the end of it all, Barbara’s Shining Miracle ability is the most straightforward heal of the game, restoring all players’ health scaled with her own health bar. If you want a straightforward approach to healing without anything complicated, Barbara’s the simplest choice.

Healing Abilities

  • Elemental Skill, Let the Show Begin – Surrounds Barbara with temporary water droplets whereupon each attack she performs will heal the party for the skill’s duration.
  • Elemental Burst, Shining Miracle – An instant big heal that scales off Barbara’s HP.

2 Noelle

Build Promotion For Healer
  • Weapon: Claymore
  • Element: Geo
  • Other roles: Main DPS

While not often considered, Noelle’s stat combinations make for one of the most durable characters in the healing position. Scaling with her defense stat, her healing abilities are second to her skill at blocking damage in the first place.

Breastplate will bring up a stone wall that will protect players while dealing out Geo damage to enemies, supplementing Noelle’s weaker healing abilities by removing the factor altogether. It also helps that she’s one of the most capable characters in the game with the Geo element, giving her a big bump with certain enemies.

The best part about Noelle is her effectiveness at the very beginning of the game, taking advantage of slow starters and getting ahead quickly. Her first constellation will give the setting for her healing abilities to activate with every single attack, all while behind her Breastplate defenses.

Healing Ability

  • Elemental Skill, Breastplate – Generates a temporary shield for Barbara whereupon each attack she performs has a chance to heal the party based on Noelle’s DEF for the skill’s duration.

1 Diona

Healing Character
  • Weapon: Bow
  • Element: Cryo
  • Other roles: Support

While most don’t consider Diona a healing character, she can definitely be made into one with a little effort. Specifically, players have to aim for the Maiden Beloved build to get the most out of her limited healing abilities.

All Maiden artifacts will give Diona a healing boost, something that’s needed as it completely relies on one move, her burst attack. Signature Mix is an area of effect attack that heals characters within its range while also inflicting Cryo damage on enemies.

While this is a pretty risky character to put the team’s healing hopes on, some don’t need as much of a safety net if they are equipped with an airtight defense. This presents Diona as one of the best options in the game given that her additional support abilities make her more effective in other areas.

Healing ability

  • Elemental Burst, Signature Mix – Diona creates a healing field that regenerates the HP based on her HP
