If you want to use a controller for Genshin Impact on Android or mobile, you need to read this.
Genshin Impact received controller support for iOS back on update 1.3, but for some reason, controller support for Android devices was absent. Now, as Genshin prepares to launch version 2.1, has the situation changed at all? Or are we still saddled with the, ahem, unsatisfactory in-game controls? That’s the question we’ll be addressing today. Here’s everything we know about controller support on Android.
Does Genshin Impact have Controller Support on Android?
As version 2.1 is released, MiHoYo are yet to make any clear comment on controller support for Android devices. This means that potentially millions of Genshin Impact fans are receiving a less optimal experience, than their counterparts using iOS.
There doesn’t seem to be much by way of an explanation for this. The update notice for version 2.1 has. along list of features and additions, but there is absolutely no mention of Android controller support. So it looks like, for the time being at least, controller support will remain unavailable. Through official means, at least.
Some users have reported being able to use a controller via SteamLink, or by using mappers to overcome this glaring omission. But be cautious if you want to explore this route further. Some users have reportedly been banned from the game for doing this.
As frustrating as this may be, we might just have to continue to waiting until controller support is made available for Android devices. But it’s a very different story if you are using iOS.

What controllers can I use on iOS?
As we mentioned above, iOS users have enjoyed controller support since update 1.3. Players who have iOS 14 or higher are able to use any of the following controllers to play Genshin Impact:
- Xbox Wireless Controller
- Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2
- iOS-specialised Bluetooth controllers (partial support only)
- PlayStation 4 DualShock Wireless Controller
iOS users have a reasonable range of controllers to choose from. Lucky them. Android users though, are going to have to wait indefinitely until they get the same support. Let’s just hope it won’t be too far away.
